Hash Generator

MD5, SHA-1, SHA-256, SHA-384 and SHA-512 of any text, computed in your browser. UTF-8 safe. SHA family uses the Web Crypto API.

What it does

A hash is a fixed-length fingerprint of your input. The same text always yields the same digest, and a tiny change produces a completely different one — useful for checksums, cache keys, and integrity checks.

Algorithms

MD5 and SHA-1 are fast but cryptographically broken — fine for checksums and cache keys, not for security. SHA-256 and up are the modern choice when collision resistance matters.

Privacy

Hashing runs locally in your browser; the text is never uploaded.

Frequently asked questions

Which algorithm should I choose?

For anything security-related use SHA-256 or stronger. MD5 and SHA-1 are cryptographically broken but fine for checksums, cache keys and deduplication.

Can a hash be reversed to the original text?

No — hashing is one-way by design. This tool only computes digests; it cannot reverse them.
